There's Something About... (Oats)

There's something about the air outside when I have a midterm to study for. The stars align, and the sun starts to shine; the grass is green, and the air smells of promise. All I can do is gaze at this perfect picture from my window while I try to cram as much as I can about the phase transformations of steel (what even is my degree) and hope that the gods are kind enough to make this suspiciously beautiful day come back tomorrow.
As the thoughts of steel plague me and I slowly start to give up on studying, I feel inspired to type up my oat bowl recipe. This is currently fueling me through many such difficult days in college (brain fuel + soul fuel), but it also held a special place in my heart at home, where I developed this recipe <3
This recipe is so easy for a quick dorm breakfast/snack/when all the dining halls are closed and midnight munchies hit. It requires a bit of planning with the ingredients, but it's so customizable that it's genuinely for everyone!
Ingredients
1) Oats! I recommend the Trader Joe's Organic Rolled Oats (the one with the seeds) or just Quaker Oats. Please be warned before using the blue rolled oats from Trader Joe's because the texture isn't the best when microwaved (#learntmylesson)
2) Almond milk! Highly recommend the Trader Joe's Almond Beverage or the Silk Chocolate Almond Milk, but if you're not an almond milk fan, any milk works — go crazy. I would personally recommend sweetened milk if you want your bowl to taste a bit sweeter, but you could also just top it with honey/monk fruit/whatever floats your boat
3) Toppings — frozen fruits, yoghurt (vanillaaaa), seeds, chocolate, almond butter (I would recommend all, but the possibilities are endless. One of my friends does granola, but I could also see cereal as an insanely delicious topping).
Process
1) Add about 1/2 cup of oats to a microwave-safe bowl.
2) Add enough milk to submerge the oats. I would do about 1/2 a cup or more.
3) Microwave for 2 minutes. Stir after one minute, and check the consistency. The oats should look "cooked" or a bit gummier in texture, but make sure it's not too gummy. Taste testing goes a long way.
4) Once cooked, top with yoghurt, fruits, and anything else your heart desires!
5) Dig in.
That's about it :) Thought I would share my oats recipe in case you have a midterm you need to study for too, and need some fuel! :o

btw if ur at ucla i would highly recommend using ur meal swipes at ackerman LOL
u can stock up on these ingredients and keep them in ur dorm for snacky times!
